A family-friendly update to IDW’s hit tile-laying game Seikatsu by Matt Loomis and Isaac Shalev, Seikatsu: A Pet’s Life has players placing adorable pets around an illustrated living-room board.

Simple to learn and easy to play, but with a unique scoring system, Seikatsu: A Pet’s Life is perfect for a family full of gamers.

At first, players will want to put matching animals together—dogs with dogs and cats with cats, for example. However, as the room fills with pets, players will need to change their focus to the color of the pillows the pets are lying on, because at the end of the game, players score additional points based on the number of matching pillows they have in their rows.

In Seikatsu, players take turns placing tiles into a shared garden area, with each tile showing a colored flower and colored bird. Players score for groups of birds as they place them, but they score for rows of flowers only at the end of the game and only for the rows of flowers that exist from their perspective, i.e., that are viewable as lines from where they sit at the game board.
